Biography

Daniel A. Sullivan was born on November 16, 1988 in Thousand Oaks, California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 2011 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California. After graduating recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California.
 
Following completion of MCT, he attended MOS school at Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command Twentynine Palms California, for Field Radio Operators Course (FROC) where he attained the MOS of 0621.
 
Upon completion of FROC, Private First Class Sullivan received orders 1st Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as a Field Radio Operator in April 2012. In April 2014 Corporal Sullivan attached to Fire Support Coordination Center, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines and deployed in support of their Unit Deployment (UDP). In July 2015 Sergeant Sullivan received orders to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 38, MACG-38, 3D MAW, MCAS Miramar where he served as the Bravo Company Transmissions Chief.
 
In May 2016 Sergeant Sullivan attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (REIN) and deployed on the 11th MEU. Upon returning Sergeant Sullivan was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant October 2018. In January 2019 Staff Sergeant Sullivan received orders to Marine Corps recruit Depot San Diego for Drill Instructor Duty. Staff Sergeant Sullivan served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor with Company G and H. 
 
In March of 2022 Staff Sergeant Sullivan received orders to 2D Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion where he served as Battery and Battalion Transmissions Chief. In May 2022 Staff Sergeant Sullivan deployed with Bravo Battery's Unit Deployment Program (UDP). Upon returning he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and assumed duties as Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Bravo Battery. 
 
In February 2024 Gunnery Sergeant Sullivan was selected and received orders to Naval Chaplaincy School, Newport Naval Station, Rhode Island. Gunnery Sergeant Sullivan served as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI), Drill Instructor and Senior Marine Advisor (SMA) for the Basic Leadership Course and Naval Chaplaincy School. In April 2026, Gunnery Sergeant Sullivan was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to Marine Detachment Newport. First Sergeant Sullivan currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Marine Corps detachment.

First Sergeant's personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/two gold stars  and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/two gold stars.
