Marine Corps Intelligence Schools
Colonel Chiu received his commission in 2002 after graduating from Yale University, New Haven, CT with a B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics.
Col Chiu’s military schools include the Marine Corps Infantry Officer Course, Scout Sniper Employment Course, Ground Intelligence Officer Course, MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (Distant), Army Airborne School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College (Distant), Marine Corps School of Advanced Warfighting, Air War College (Distant), College of Naval Warfare, and the Naval War College Advanced Strategist Program.
He holds a Master of Arts in Operational Studies from Marine Corps University, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from Naval War College, and is a 3/3 in Mandarin Chinese.
Col Chiu’s command assignments include Headquarters Platoon Commander, 1st Battalion 12th Marines; Bravo Company Commander, 1st Radio Battalion; and Battalion Commander, 3d Intelligence Battalion.
Col Chiu’s staff assignments include Battalion S-2, 1st Battalion 12th Marines; Battalion S-3A, 1st Radio Battalion; Desk Officer, Defense Intelligence Agency; Assistant Marine Attaché, U.S. Embassy Beijing China; MAGTF Operational Planner, 3d Marine Logistics Group; G-2 Operations Officer and AC/S G-2, Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa; and Director, Information War Room and Marine Corps Technical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP), Deputy Commandant for Information, HQMC.
Col Chiu’s combat deployments include serving as the operations/intelligence advisor on a Border Transition Team in Najaf and Trebil, Iraq, and serving as the S-3A for 1st Radio Battalion in Fallujah, Iraq.
Col Chiu is married to the former Helen Williamson and has four children: William (9 years old), Annabelle (7 years old), Theodore (5 years old), and Charlotte (3 years old). He enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing family activities, working out, reading, and listening to classical music.
